6 Things Every Good Extraction Specialist Should Do

You are not an extraction system specialist, so how do you know if your service provider has done a good job or done you in? Well, as your go-to industry expert, IKCS is here with the answers.

Here’s a checklist of things to look out for or ask once your extraction system specialist has completed a service.

#1 Before and After Photos

Make sure they provide you with photo evidence of the before versus the after. You specifically need to ask for photos of the ducting and motors – in other words, areas that are not visible to the naked eye.

#2 Before and After Airflow Readings

Let the system tell you if it’s been properly cleaned! An “after” reading should be 1.5 or higher – anything less, and you can tell your extraction system “expert” to take a hike.

#3 Cuts in the Duct Route

To access the ducting and do a thorough cleaning, the guys have to make cuts in the duct route. So, if you don’t see cuts, it’s safe to say they didn’t do their job.

#4 Full Report of Fixes

Ask for a full report of any additional items that need to be fixed or replaced – like silencers, filters, drip trays and the like.

#5 Hard Day’s Work

An extraction system service takes anywhere between 3 and 5 hours. So, if the guys are clocking out after about an hour or two, you know it was not done properly.

#6 Enough Manpower

To effectively service an extraction system, you need at least 4 workers on the job – maybe even more, depending on the size of the system. So, if they arrive as a party of 2, call us instead.

#DidYouKnow Every Industrial Kitchen Cleaning Solutions cleaning team comes with a supervisor (O.H.A.S.A trained) and assistant supervisor, who will ensure that your extraction system is clean, operating efficiently and running at 100% capacity.
